We are really looking forward to hosting Gretchen Jahn who will be talking about her experience with the Air Race Classic (ARC). Gretchen is not only a member of the CO 99s, she was also the winner for the ARC in 2006.
If you are interested in participating, email the SPMG at email@example.com for the login credentials. This is our last meet-up for the year and we will resume again in the late winter/early spring months of 2021. Here is a little bit about the event and Gretchen:
Cross country air racing is a fun excuse to fly as fast as your airplane can go. But how do you win a race? Part of it is airplane and pilot preparation – part of it is practice – part of it is weather – and part of it is luck. Gretchen Jahn will describe her air racing experience from the perspective of winning the Air Race Classic in 2006 in her Mooney Ovation.
Gretchen has 34 years of cross country air racing experience, in the US and New Zealand. In 24 Air Race Classic races, she has placed in the top ten 11 times. She has spent countless rewarding hours as a volunteer for aviation organizations, including past governor of the South Central Section of The 99s and former director of the Air Race Classic for 14 years. Before retiring she was an entrepreneur, a manufacturing professional, CEO of Mooney Airplane Company, General Manager of Alpha Aviation (New Zealand), COO of REMOS Aircraft (Germany), and consultant to corporate boards and CEOs. Today she continues her volunteer work as chairman of the International Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee, and on the website/database committee for the Air Race Classic.
